The Connect – Provisioning service allows devices to dynamically obtain a unique identity and key that is required to use HealthSuite digital platform (HSDP) services. This occurs "over-the-air," eliminating the need for devices to be provisioned upfront in the factory with a pre-generated unique identity.

The Connect Profile Service provides the capability for different device types (e.g. medical devices, mobile applications, etc) to store a consolidated profile view of themselves after completing the provisioning process. A profile resource for a given device type contains provisioning, install base, MDM Type Hierarchy, and connection-related information as it creates its identity via the Connect Provisioning Service.

With the advent of technologies like mobile computing, Internet of Things (IoT) and Cloud computing converging to build innovative solutions, arises the need to support device to device or in general, entity to entity communication and address security requirements.
